Modupe Enitan Irele
Ambassador
Ambassador Dr. Modupe Enitan Irele was born in 20 March 1954 in Lagos, Nigeria. She obtained a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in French from the University of Ibadan, and another Master’s in Education from the University College, Dublin, Ireland. She equally obtained a Doctorate Degree from Pennsylvania State University. After a successful career in the banking sector, Ambassador Dr. Irele proceeded to build an extensive career in education, which has led to the accomplishment of the following, among others:
- Member, Board of Trustees, Mudiame University, Edo State, Nigeria;
- Founder and Chief Consultant, Key Learning Solutions Ltd;
- Member, Board of Governors, Atlantic Hall Educational Trust Council;
- Affiliate Assistant Professor, Pennsylvania State University;
- Programme Evaluator, World Campus: Pennsylvania State University, USA
- Consultant, Review for The World Bank on the assessment and planning template for distance education and technology in education in sub-Saharan Africa;
- Consultant, Review for the World Bank on increasing access to quality tertiary education in sub-Saharan Africa: A distance education and ICT capacity building proposal.
Ambassador Dr. Irele was appointed Nigerian Ambassador to Hungary, with concurrent accreditation to Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 2021. Before then, she served as Ambassador of Nigeria to France from 2017 to 2021. She is a recipient of numerous awards, a member of several professional associations, and has published many articles. Ambassador Dr. Irele speaks Yoruba, English and French.
